Easter Celebration

Hope everybody enjoyed their Easter weekend with family and friends...

I celebrated Easter at my Mom's house.

This is what I see as I pull in to the driveway....
Mr. E Bunny's House

My mom made this...
She is seriously the craftiest person I have ever known...
Complete with a working lantern by the door, curtains in window and a carrot patch in the flower box.
AND it totally fits right in with her gardening!

Wait the excitement didn't end there...
I walk into the house and this is what I find on the counter waiting for me....
A Peep and Skittles Cake!
Talk about SUGAR OVERLOAD PEOPLE!

My sister surprised me with this cake...
("did I mention I am doing a low carb diet... oh well, guess it will start on Monday")
She is not usually a baker... in fact... she usually stands clear of the kitchen after the whole 1 1/2 cups of SALT instead of SUGAR incident when she was trying to bake SUGAR COOKIES....
Gotta love her.... *Smiles*

Did you see, eat or do anything exciting during your Easter Weekend?

Sidekick Love & Office Dreams

I don't think I have showcased my sidekick, Brody, on my blog yet.
How could I not have introduced my design and blogging buddy?!?!?
He is with me at all times...
measuring...
painting...
sketching...
note taking...
picture taking...
and most of all... blogging....
Well here he is!  My little trouble maker, Brody *Smiles*

I got Brody when I lived in Orlando almost 4 years ago.  He was just 4 weeks old and had been abandoned by his momma by the Orlando Airport.
*Look!  He was just a little bit bigger then the feet on the bottom of my sofa!
Now he can hardly squeeze under there!*

So you may be wondering... why is this crazy girl telling me about her cat...??

Well let me tell you.
Remember how I said Brody is ALWAYS with me...
well....sometimes he gets in the way....
Not so in the way when he is sleeping on my desk....
More in the way when he wants to read my blog while I am typing it...
(okay so I think he was actually following my mouse pointer on this day *giggles*)

Solution to this problem...?
TOTAL OFFICE MAKEOVER!!!

What?  Wait? Did I miss something?

NOPE!  Your with me...
Cat gets in the way on my desk...
leads to the need for more furniture...
leads to cat laying in other areas instead of right in front of my computer screen.

Makes total sense right!?!
(I have to find a reason to do a TOTAL OFFICE MAKEOVER...
just go with me on this one!)

Here is how the room looks today...
 Totally boring right!!
Those two towers actually go to my entertainment center in the living room but the wall is not long enough (well it is... but that's a whole other project blog!) so I have to keep them in here...
The walls are not actually white... more of a vanilla/cream color...
still boring though!

My plans....
  • Remove the closet doors and make that an extension to the room
  • Move the towers in the closet with a small table in between for my electronics (printer, camera, etc)
  • Move desk (I get to much of a glare sitting with my back to the window)
  • Add a crafting table... tired of doing crafts at my kitchen pub table...
  • Add Storage for magazines, books, bills, and crafting supplies
  • Add decor, PAINT, PICTURES & CURTAINS!
Yup!  That should do it!
More space for me to work...
and more spaces for Brody to... well... do his Cat-Thang!
Okay, off to do more sketches for my new office!!!
Have a great weekend!

With Spring Comes Yard Work

With spring... comes yard work.
Isn't that the truth!?!
With all of the beautiful weather we are having lately,
seems like everybody in Bloggersville has been doing a little yard work.

I spent my weekend fertilizing my Indian Hawthorne and Loropetalum plants and Magnolia trees, replacing plants, pulling weeds and spreading new mulch.
I fertilized my plants and trees with this Osmocote Smart Release 4-month (14-14-14).
However, after talking to the man at the nursery, he suggested I use Osmocote 14-8-15, which is a better 12 month fertilizer.
So... here's the plan...
Since my plants are young (planted in August 2011),
they need as much nutrients as they can get!
I fertilize now using the 14-14-14 formula and then will re-do everything with the 14-8-15 formula in a few months.  I hope with a little TLC, my babies plants will grow so that I can see them over the mulch. *wink*

Unfortunately, my 12 small Heather plants did not make it through the winter.
Instead of pulling them and replacing them with a similar plant, I  decided to try something new and replace them with potted annuals, 8 white Petunias and 3 pink & white Cosmos...
I dug a hole big enough for a one-gallon pot (even with the ground)
and put an empty pot in the hole.
I planted my annual in another pot and then lowered it into the empty pot.
Now, when the season ends I will be able to replant another flower with ease.
Next on the list of outdoor projects:
Find a stone to make an edge for this area.
I am looking for something that fits in my budget and looks good.
Shouldn't be too hard, right? *wink*
Re-sod the WHOLE yard.
My yard is a combination of weeds, dirt and a little bit of grass.  I don't think I will be pleased with the results of seeding, so I plan on just having the whole yard re-sodded (is that a word?)
I would love to see what you have done in your yard.  Please share!
